SECOND SHOW ADDED!! — Nashville Meets New Haven: An Intimate Evening of Original Acoustic Song
Nashville recording artists Lacey Brown and Joshua Payne will headline “Nashville Meets New Haven: An Intimate Evening of Original Acoustic Song” in New Haven on Nov. 4 at 3 PM.    The duo of guitar-playing singer-songwriters will perform for Connecticut audiences in the homey, comfortable ambience of Lyric Hall.  This is a great opportunity to hear national-level singing and playing in such an intimate, family-friendly environment.  Audiences can expect to hear original and often innovative music that is tender, but strong; sweet, yet touched with melancholy; lyrical and yet driving; meaningful and yet thoroughly entertaining.

Doors open at 2:30 PM
Performance begins at 3:00 PM

Headliners: Lacey Brown & Joshua Payne
Opener: Richie Kaye

Since her debut as an American Idol Top 12 finalist in February of 2010, Lacey Brown has appeared as a musical guest and interview subject on Late Night with David Letterman, the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the Today Show, Wendy Williams, Access Hollywood and E! Lacey’s voice is a concoction of sweet, yet haunting tones with a hint of Brenda Lee.    Website | Audio

Joshua Payne is one of the most abundantly gifted of a new breed of singer and songwriter, blessed with a big, classically-trained voice and a soul to match.  A touring veteran, he’s thrilled crowds at venues such as B. B. King’s, the Ridgefield Playhouse, the Birchemere, Park West Chicago, and Pantages.  Website | Audio

ABOUT THE MUSIC

LACEY
Alongside her vocal uniqueness, Lacey believes her greatest gifts are the ability to interpret a lyric to evoke emotion in the listener. Lacey gushes about her first project as “…a collection of five songs, of which, each describes a different facet of me.” With her first album, she is looking to uplift and inspire – to make you feel deeply and force you to think about things in a simpler way. She wants her music to take you back to a time when things were just said and taken at face value.  Lacey, eager to get music out to her fans in 2011, released her debut EP “Let it Go” as an independent release. Writing, recording, and co-producing her first project has refreshingly set her apart from the usual post-idol  personalities.  Lacey’s writing style is best described as pop lyrics resting on a bed of American Bluegrass and she looks forward to sharing this budding side of her artistry with her fans.

JOSHUA
“Joshua Payne has a delIcious, melt in your mouth voice, that makes women weak in the knees.
Coupled with his soulful, spiritual lyric interpretations, he is a bright new star destined for greatness.”

 — Amy Sky, Canadian songwriter whose songs have been recorded by Diana Ross, Anne Murray, Olivia Newton-John, Reba McEntire and many others.

“Joshua Payne has the perfect voice. Totally in control of his technique, you the listener can forget about everything as you let yourself fall into his romantic yet earthy musical world of stories dealing with love and heartbreak. Bravo maestro bravo!”  — Bruce Gaitsch, American guitarist who has worked with Richard Marx, Chicago, Peter Cetera and Madonna

“Joshua Payne is that unique talent one encounters only rarely. He is naturally blessed with a rich dark beautiful voice that is at times both powerful and fragile. But it is because Josh connects to a lyric with intelligence and a kind of wisdom beyond his years, that makes him a great singer. He has a tender lyric style because that’s who Josh is, no artifice just a man with questions who is not afraid to put himself out there or to break your heart with a song while you feel that guilty pleasure that you always get when you discover a real artist.”
 — Marc Jordan, Canadian songwriter

RICHIE
“…daring…outside art…cult folkie…… dynamic and powerful material that has a few ounces of Scott Walker mixed with plenty of [Daniel] Johnston/[Perry Leopald] style.”  — David Hintz, Folkworld
