I Heart Trash
Thursday, Apr 16 | 5:30 PM
EcoWorks, a creative reuse center in New Haven, is hosting their first fundraising event, I HEART Trash on April 16 from 5:30-8:00 at Lyric Hall in New Haven. Funds are being raised to expand programs and services.
EcoWorkers love trash for all the possibilities scrap provides in creative expression. I HEART Trash is at Lyric Hall, a beautifully restored theatre, with live music provided by members from different local bans, Flint Ladder Circus and Homemade Jam, food provided by Global Local Gourmet, a fun making-activity with Elm City Handmade, tarot readings by Arts Interstices, and a silent auction with an eclectic mix of items and gifts.
“We’re very excited to be hosting this fun event,” said Sherill Baldwin, EcoWorks Board Chair. “We’re in a growth spurt and are raising funds so we can provide more workshops and classes and expand our reBoutique gift shop.”
EcoWorks accepts donations of industrial scrap, business surplus and materials from active savers in the community, which are sold at low cost to teachers, artists and others seeking low-cost art supplies. The reBoutique gift shop sells upcycled and repurposed goods made by CT artisans.
EcoWorks’ mission is to promote resource conservation, creativity, education and community engagement through material reuse, waste reduction, recycling, composting and zero waste strategies. Its work is based on the belief that social change accelerates when people are having fun, and saving or making money.
Community sponsors for this event include the CT Recyclers Coalition, Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, Greater New Haven Green Fund, Bigelow Tea, Boldwood Interiors and Project Storefronts.
